![]() My only issue with it is the guard does not get closes enough to the blade for me, leaving me with a 1/2" nub of what ever I am cutting.Ĥ Poor attempt at making a "home version" of a commercial product. I use it to cut block of cheese from Costco, apples for dehydrating, and some meets. I have used for a couple of months now, home use only so only a couple of times each month. I like thin, cause then i can eat 20 slicesBottom line is if you want to slice thin, this isnt' your unit. A hammer will do as good a job as this.- Salumis? Depends on how thin. never go thin enough- Proscuitto? Not even close. Allows the blade to pull the meat down from the gripper. And the blade is serrated, so you dont get that super clean cut.On the pro side, it is pretty easy to clean.So.what's it good for?- Jerky ? Yay. The slider is not smooth and doesn't grip the food well. But, alas, this was not to be.So the question is what are you going to use this for?As others say, the blade moves VERY SLOWLY. So i read the reviews and was pretty excited to find a good slicer for a good price. I anticipate using this one.a lot ! No more buying expensive deli sliced meat.going to roast my own and slice thin for sandwiches! clean by hand in the sink.wipe off rest of unit.done ! Other home slicers I've had were so cumbersome to clean.I never used them. Entire guard assembly pops off and blade pops off.wha' la. I had to cut my slabs in two to accommodate the dimensions. It made short work of my bacon slabs that I cured my self from my own hogs. I've worked in deli's before with the lovely big professional Hobart's. ![]()
